A bit about me...
I’m Troy, a portrait and documentary-style photographer based in Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal, working across the North Coast and throughout South Africa.
Photography, for me, has always been about observation rather than control. I’m far more interested in what happens naturally than in what can be arranged. The moments that stay with us rarely occur on command. They happen quietly, in between everything else.
My approach is simple. I watch carefully, interfere as little as possible, and allow people the space to settle into themselves. Whether I’m photographing a family, a wedding, or a portrait, the goal is always the same: to create images that feel honest to the moment rather than constructed for the camera.
I’m drawn to photographs that age well. Images that still feel true years later because they were never built around trends or performance in the first place.
This approach isn’t for everyone, and that’s perfectly fine. But if you value photography that feels calm, natural and authentic, we’ll probably get along very well.
A few other thoughts...
01.
My Origin Story...
I used to shoot on an old Kodak film camera, developing 24 shots a month.
I studied Journalism at UCT and got bitten hard when digital photography stripped the "fear" of wasted shots. From then on I have seldom been without a camera in hand.

Family & Faith
To me, family is everything!
I live for mine and have a deep passion for helping others capture theirs in a way that will immortalise emotions, not just images.

My photos
I love natural light, real people and authentic moments. I believe in truth and I hope my photography always embodies that.
